Toon Fibbe is a time-traveling cartographer of invisible economies, born on a distant planet where currency is made of laughter and bureaucracy is run by sentient clouds. His studio floats between dimensions and is usually powered by the collective sighs of overworked office workers.

Duotones: A series of artists talking
Friday, May 9, 2025
6:00 – 8:30 PM
Talk #1: Toon Fibbe and Han Hoogerbrugge
Moderated by Antye Guenther, representing Varia
Hosted by TENT, Coolhaven 32, Rotterdam
Join us next Friday, May 9, for the beginning of Duotones: A Series of Artists Talking—a new program of artist talks organised by A Tale of A Tub and Studio Art Office/CBK R’dam and hosted by TENT. The series is an attempt to put different generations of Rotterdam-based artists in conversation, and to kick it off we’ve invited Toon Fibbe and Han Hoogerbrugge to unpack their approaches to working with digital technologies and across mediums—from animatronics to mask-making to illustration and animation—as a means for exploring identity construction and value production, both on and off the screen.

Semi-True Interpretation of Fictionality Part III: The Fun-DING Body-ody-ody
Date: 05.10.2024
Workshop description:
For Fictionality III, the infamous Anna Delvey will serve as our guide and teacher. Known for posing as a wealthy German heiress while scamming New York’s elite, Delvey convinced the high society to invest in The Anna Delvey Foundation, her vision for a club and art gallery. Media outlets were quick to chastise Delvey for her swindles, but if anything, she perfectly reflected her surroundings by carefully shaping herself after the desires of potential investors. As cultural practitioners we are often asked to spark the imagination and desires of funding bodies or institutions. As Anna shows us, funding bodies shape not only the projects they fund, but also the identities and behaviours of those who seek their investment.
We will explore this together with artist Toon Fibbe, by turning our professional selves into (drag)characters. However, first the funding body needs a makeover. If we imagine funding differently, what characters and behaviours could it produce? Join us in concocting characters, criteria, speculative and perhaps absurd scenarios. Scenarios that might not be utopian, but at least will give us insight into the fictions undergirding our funding structures.

Not LESS-MATERIAL
PuntWG, Amsterdam - Toon Fibbe & Laura Wiedijk, Céline Mathieu, Maxim Tyminko
Not LESS-MATERIAL marks the opening of the festival ‘A Matter of (In)digestions’ organised by La Cocina in different venues in Amsterdam in October-November 2020. With the festival, we want to call attention to what we tend to take for granted – that is, what we consume –, and highlight some of the socio-political, historical and cultural intersections that consumption implies. What do our appetites tell us about taste and infrastructure, crops and identity, recipes and botanics?

22 of March at OffOff Cinema Kunsthal Gent
Initiated by members of Knowledge Is A Does (KIAD) and with special contributions by Rory Pilgrim, Brendan Curtis and Sarah Browne, we present a selection of videos, performance and sound based works. Disassemblies 9, a reading group and evening programme, explore Vanessa Agard-Jones’ theory on bodies in systems, which she defines as a movement directing us from the innards of embodiment to the space of global capital. The scores, spells and fragments will be explored in the space and on the pages to explore the ways in which meaning and power can be re-charted.
